The ABB M3JP series are low-voltage cast-iron high-performance flameproof three-phase induction motors for hazardous areas manufactured by ABB Shanghai Electric Motors Co., Ltd. Developed on ABB’s global unified design platform with advanced modular ADEPT design, they represent ABB’s flagship flameproof low-voltage motor range.

Designed specifically for explosive gas atmospheres in Zone 1 and Zone 2, these motors feature ultra-high efficiency (IE3 as standard, IE4 available for selected models) and exceptional reliability, widely used in petrochemical, coal, pharmaceutical, metallurgical and other industries.

4.1 Flameproof Principle

Featuring Ex db flameproof construction, safety is ensured by two protective measures:

Flameproof enclosure (Ex d): Withstands internal explosion pressure and prevents flame propagation to the external hazardous atmosphere.

Surface temperature limitation (Ex b): Maximum surface temperature of all motor parts does not exceed the limit defined by temperature class (T4=135°C, T5=100°C, T6=85°C).
