⚠️ Important: Distinguish flush / non-flush types. Flush sensors feature shorter sensing distance and cannot be directly interchanged.

- For non-flush sensors: Keep an area free of metal (minimum 3×Sn = 6 مم) around the sensing face. خلاف ذلك, reduced sensing range and false switching will occur;
- Not suitable for permanent submersion. IP67 only protects against temporary water spray;
- Target material correction factor: Steel=1, stainless steel≈0.7, aluminum≈0.4; effective detection distance drops significantly for aluminum targets;
- Multiple sensors mounted side by side: Maintain spacing ≥3×Sn to avoid mutual magnetic interference.
Operating Principle of Cylindrical Threaded Inductive Proximity Sensors
(Applies to M8/M12/M18/M30 types including IFM IE5099)
- المبدأ الأساسي: High-frequency Alternating Magnetic Field + Eddy Current Effect
Inductive proximity sensors only detect conductive metals. البلاستيك, wood, glass and liquids cannot be detected.
Three core internal circuits: High-frequency oscillator circuit, demodulator circuit, signal shaping & output circuit.
(1) Oscillation State (No metal nearby)
A coil-capacitor LC oscillator is built into the sensor head. بعد التشغيل, it continuously generates a high-frequency alternating magnetic field radiating outward.
Oscillation amplitude remains stable. The subsequent detection circuit judges: No metal → output initial state
For PNP NO sensors (على سبيل المثال. IE5099): No high level at output.
(2) Eddy Current Attenuation State (Metal enters sensing zone)
When a metal target approaches the sensing face, the alternating magnetic field penetrates the metal surface. Closed eddy currents are induced inside the metal according to electromagnetic induction law.
Eddy currents generate a reverse magnetic field counteracting the original magnetic field from the sensor coil.
Energy is consumed by eddy currents → LC oscillator amplitude decreases, and may stop oscillating.
(3) Signal Conversion & الإخراج
The demodulator continuously monitors oscillation amplitude:
Sharp amplitude drop → Metal target detected;
Signals pass Schmitt trigger shaping and drive transistor circuits to switch output status (PNP/NPN turn on/off).

- Key Terminology (For Selection & التكليف)
- Flush Mounting / Non-flush Mounting
Flush (embeddable): Sensor head can be embedded into metal brackets. Optimized coil shielding improves resistance to surrounding metal interference, at the cost of smaller nominal sensing distance Sn.
Non-flush (non-embeddable, IE5099 type): Sensor head shall not be surrounded by metal. Longer sensing distance, yet sufficient metal-free clearance around sensing face is required; otherwise magnetic field is absorbed and false switching occurs.

Rated distance tested under standard conditions (mild steel, standard target size). Effective distance reduces for stainless steel, aluminum and copper (عامل التصحيح < 1).

- Common Misconceptions
- ❌ It does NOT rely on permanent magnets! No magnet required; only conductive metal can trigger detection. Hall effect sensors detect magnetic fields — the two principles are completely different.
- ❌ Unable to detect non-conductive materials;
- ❌ Stability decreases at longer distances. Recommended working distance ≤ 0.7×Sn for installation margin.
- Mechanical Structure Explanation for Cylindrical Threaded Sensors
The threaded body serves only mechanical mounting purposes. The effective sensing area is the front end face. Magnetic field radiates mainly forward; lateral detection capability is extremely weak.

⚠️ Critical Selection & إرشادات التثبيت
- Non-flush sensors (IE5099)
Avoid mounting sensing face closely against metal brackets. Maintain sufficient metal-free clearance around sensing face; otherwise magnetic field absorption leads to unstable detection and false signals.
- Material attenuation effect
Mild steel delivers optimal performance; effective distance drops sharply for stainless steel, aluminum and copper. Increase installation margin for aluminum targets.

Use photoelectric or capacitive sensors for non-metal detection.
