The Schneider GV2-ME21C motor protection circuit breaker supports two standardized mounting methods: 35mm DIN rail mounting (the mainstream industrial method) and screw fixing mounting (suitable for scenarios without DIN rails). Both methods must comply with electrical installation specifications to ensure stability and safety. The detailed operating instructions are as follows:
- Mainstream Mounting Method: 35mm DIN Rail Mounting
This method complies with the EN 60715 standard, is suitable for standardized layouts in distribution cabinets and control cabinets, features high installation efficiency and facilitates later maintenance.
- Rail Preparation
Select a 35mm-wide standard DIN rail (either steel or aluminum is acceptable), and fix the rail horizontally or vertically on the cabinet panel according to the installation position.
The flatness error of the rail installation must be ≤ 0.5mm/m to avoid circuit breaker jamming caused by rail deformation.
- Circuit Breaker Clamping
Hold the GV2-ME21C main unit, align its top hook buckle with the upper edge of the DIN rail, and hang it gently.
Press down the bottom buckle of the circuit breaker until a “click” locking sound is heard, at which point the circuit breaker is fully engaged with the rail.
Shake the circuit breaker main unit to confirm there is no looseness, and the installation is completed.
- Requirements for Side-by-Side Mounting of Multiple Units
When multiple GV2 series circuit breakers are installed side by side, a gap of ≥ 5mm must be reserved between adjacent products for heat dissipation and wiring operations, to prevent the impact of heat accumulation on protection performance.
- Alternative Mounting Method: Screw Fixing Mounting
It is suitable for non-standard cabinets or small control boxes without DIN rails, and the circuit breaker base needs to be fixed by drilling holes.
- Positioning and Drilling
Refer to the mounting hole dimensions of the GV2-ME21C base (the center distance between the two holes is approximately 45mm), and mark the drilling positions on the installation panel.
Use a M4-specification drill bit for drilling. The recommended thickness of the panel is ≥ 2mm to ensure no looseness after screw fastening.
- Fixing Operation
Attach the circuit breaker base to the installation panel, pass the M4 screws through, and tighten them preliminarily.
Use a torque screwdriver to apply a torque of 1.5–2.0N·m for final fastening. Excessive torque may damage the plastic parts of the base, while insufficient torque may lead to loosening due to vibration.
- Notes
During screw fixing, ensure the circuit breaker is placed horizontally, and the handle operation direction is unobstructed to facilitate later switching on/off and testing.
III. General Installation Notes
- Mounting Orientation: The circuit breaker can be installed horizontally or vertically; upside-down installation is strictly prohibited (to avoid affecting the sensitivity of the thermal overload protection components).
- Wiring Space: Sufficient wiring space must be reserved at the installation position. It is recommended to reserve a gap of ≥ 20mm on the incoming/outgoing terminal side to facilitate wire bending and fastening.
- Environmental Adaptability: The installation environment must meet the temperature range of -20°C ~ +60°C, be free of humidity and corrosive gases. Avoid exposed installation in dusty occasions (a protective cover can be added to improve the protection level).
- Safety Specifications: The power supply must be disconnected before installation, and no voltage must be confirmed with a voltage tester. Installers must have electrical operation qualifications and wear insulating protective equipment.
- Post-Installation Verification
- Mechanical Verification: Operate the handle to switch between the three gears of OFF (open) – ON (close) – TEST (trip test); the action should be smooth without jamming.
- Locking Verification: Toggle the handle to the OFF position, insert a locking device (such as a padlock), and confirm that closing is not possible to prevent misoperation.
