- Occasional false switching: Lens / reflector contaminated; DELTA resists slow contamination drift but heavy oil fouling will still cause failure.
- Nessuna uscita: Check power supply and wiring polarity; confirm successful Teach-in.
List of Original SensoPart Reflectors Compatible with FR25-RGO-PS-M4M
⚠️ Importante: FR25-RGO is an autocollimation photoelectric sensor dedicated to transparent objects. Standard photoelectric reflectors are NOT permitted. Only SensoPart KL-series reflectors can be used. Ordinary corner-cube reflectors will lead to unstable bottle detection and false switching.

Linee guida per la selezione
- Rilevamento di oggetti trasparenti (PET bottles, glass bottles, transparent films): Prioritize RF-100 KL. Only KL coated reflectors match the autocollimation principle of this sensor; standard R-type reflectors cause missing detection of transparent workpieces.
- Mounting distance>0.5 m: RF-100 KL / R5/L
- Mounting distance<0.5 m: R2-2LB1 / R3-2LK1
- Ambiente duro (high-pressure washdown IP69K): Prefer hard-cased R5/L, R2-2LB1, R3-2LK1 to protect reflective layer; RF-100 KL is adhesive film and needs extra protection.
Warning on Non-Compatible Parts
Standard triangular corner-cube reflectors (for conventional retro-reflective sensors) cannot be used with FR25-RGO. The autocollimation optics rely on special KL coating. Ordinary reflectors lead to transparent detection failure: bottles pass without signal change, random toggling when no workpiece present.
Installazione & Teach-in Instructions
Teach-in must be re-executed after reflector replacement
Teach-in procedure: Perform one teach cycle with clear optical path (no workpiece); perform second teach cycle with transparent workpiece blocking beam to activate DELTA dynamic threshold.

Matching Mounting Brackets (Sensore + Riflettore)
Sensor Brackets for FR25 Series
- MS F 20: Standard angle bracket with fasteners, universal for F25 sensors, più ampiamente utilizzato
- SensoClip F25 (MBD F25ST2): Dovetail quick-mount bracket for fine beam alignment adjustment
- SensoClip F25 (MBD F25STP): With protective shield for dusty / washdown environments
No universal factory brackets for reflectors. Hard-cased R5/L, R2-2LB1, R3-2LK1 can be fixed via sheet metal holes and screws. RF-100 KL adhesive film can be stuck on flat substrate; add pressure plate for heavy vibration applications.
Selection Decision Rules (For Field Engineers)
- Transparent bottle / film, distance>0.5 m, normal environment → RF-100 KL
- Transparent bottle, distance>0.5 m, washdown / polvere / heavy vibration → R5/L
- Mounting distance<0.5 m, tight space → R2-2LB1 / R3-2LK1
- Lunga distanza, beam prone to misalignment → RF-230 KL
Note importanti (Appalti & Messa in servizio)
- Re-run Teach-in and activate DELTA dynamic threshold after any reflector change
- ❌ Conventional retro-reflective corner-cube reflectors are forbidden, will cause missing detection and random signal toggling of transparent workpieces
- RF-100 KL is adhesive film. Add acrylic protective cover in high-pressure washdown applications to prevent film aging and peeling
- Teach-in steps: First teach with unobstructed beam path; second teach with transparent workpiece inserted into beam path
One-line Procurement Remark
FR25-RGO series works on autocollimation principle. SensoPart KL coated reflectors are mandatory. Generic photoelectric reflectors are not interchangeable. RF-100 KL is standard for most projects, R5/L preferred for washdown lines.
Working Principle of Autocollimation Retro-reflective Photoelectric Sensors for Transparent Objects (SensoPart FR25-RGO type)
Conventional retro-reflective sensors: Light emits to ordinary corner-cube reflector and returns along original path. Transparent objects (PET bottles, film) transmit most light with little reflection. The sensor cannot detect objects and missing detection occurs. Autocollimation optics is specially developed to solve this problem.
- Basic Optical Configuration
Inside the sensor: Transmit lens + Receive lens, arranged coaxially (autocollimation = shared optical axis for transmit and receive)
Must pair with KL special coated reflector, not ordinary corner-cube reflector.
- Red light from LED travels along coaxial axis to KL reflector
- KL reflector characteristic: returns incident light strictly parallel and anti-parallel to incoming direction (retroreflection)
- No transparent workpiece in beam: Light returns to receiver with high intensity → sensor judges No object
- Core Change when Transparent Workpiece Enters Beam Path
When transparent workpiece (PET wall, transparent film) sits between sensor and reflector:
Refraction + minor reflection occurs at transparent medium; light propagation angle changes when passing through transparent material
KL reflector still reflects light, but refracted and offset beam no longer returns along original coaxial axis to sensor receiving window
Light energy reaching photodetector drops sharply
Sensor detects reduced light intensity → judges Object present
✅ Core Comparison
Ordinary retro-reflective sensor: Detection by light blockage. Transparent material cannot block light; signal barely changes → detection failure
Autocollimation transparent-type retro-reflective sensor: Not relying on light blocking. It detects reduction of returned light caused by beam refraction offset at transparent medium. Any transparent workpiece with refractive index difference (air ↔ plastic/glass) can be detected.
- DELTA Dynamic Threshold (Algorithm for FR25-RGO)
Polvere, water mist and reflector aging slowly reduce overall return light intensity.
DELTA does not use fixed threshold; it continuously monitors baseline background light intensity and responds only to rapid light intensity change caused by workpiece, filtering slow drift from contamination and temperature to reduce false triggering.
This is why two-point Teach-in is required:
① Empty beam path: Record baseline return light level (background)
② Insert transparent workpiece: Record return light level with workpiece
Sensor calculates difference between the two values as switching threshold.
- Why KL Reflector Cannot Be Replaced by Ordinary Reflector?
Ordinary corner-cube reflector: Wide-angle reflection. Even if incident angle shifts, sufficient light still returns to receiver.
When transparent workpiece refracts light, ordinary reflector still sends enough light back. Signal difference between present / absent bottle is minimal, and workpiece cannot be distinguished.
KL reflector: Narrow-angle retroreflection, highly sensitive to incident angle. Tiny refraction offset will sharply reduce returned light, perfectly matching the detection logic of autocollimation optics.
- Limitazioni (Key for Commissioning)
- Transparent workpiece cannot be placed tightly against reflector or sensor. Too small gap results in insufficient refraction offset and weak light attenuation, leading to unstable detection. Maintain proper clearance.
- Heavy oil / limescale on workpiece surface alters refractive index and impairs detection.
- Multiple stacked transparent layers create multiple refraction events; re-Teaching and evaluation required.
- Curved transparent workpiece (round bottle wall): Beam incident angle varies with position; align light spot onto flat bottle wall area.
One-sentence Summary of Principle
Coaxial transmit/receive autocollimation optics paired with KL narrow-angle retroreflector; detection does not depend on blocking light, but uses refractive index difference between transparent medium and air to deflect light beam and reduce returning light energy for transparent object identification. DELTA algorithm suppresses slow light drift caused by dust.
