🧩 Compatible Module List

Used with 24V DC digital I/O, module analogice, counter modules, CDM common distribution modules and remote transmitter modules, mounted together with TM5ACBM bus baseplates.

Exemple: TM5SDM12DT, TM5SDI12D, TM5SDO12T and other 12-point TM5 I/O modules. This terminal block is the standard matching accessory.

✨ Product Features

  1. Detachable split design: Terminal block separated from module body. I/O module replacement or on-site commissioning can be performed without disconnecting field wires to reduce downtime.
  2. Push-in spring wiring: No screwdriver required; insert wire directly. Press the top button to release the conductor.
  3. Terminal marking support: Marker labels can be fitted on each terminal for drawing verification. Probe test holes are reserved for live signal measurement.
  4. Coding anti-mismatch slot: Coding slider at the bottom of the terminal block prevents incorrect insertion into mismatched I/O baseplates.
  5. Cable tie retainer: Supports cable fixing to improve cabinet wiring neatness.

⚠️ Selection & Note de instalare

  1. White TM5ACTB12 cannot replace grey TM5ACTB12PS. PS version is specially used for PDM/IPDM power distribution modules and remote receiver modules.
  2. IP20 indoor cabinet use only. Not suitable for outdoor, humid or explosive hazardous areas.
  3. Crimp ferrule terminals are recommended for spring terminals. Use pin-type ferrules for stranded wires to avoid loose copper strands and short circuits.
  4. It is a consumable spare part and must be ordered separately. I/O modules are normally shipped without terminal blocks.

Troubleshooting for TM5ACTB12 Terminal Block

Core Note: TM5ACTB12 is only a wiring accessory and will not trigger PLC faults by itself. If I/O signals are missing or intermittent, priority checks should cover wiring, spring clips, coding and baseplate matching.

  1. Intermittent channel signal / sporadic point dropout (Cele mai comune)

Symptoms

DI points flash randomly, DO output unstable. Faults tend to occur under vibration or when cabinet fan starts, channel status toggles randomly in PLC software.

Cauze & Depanare

  1. Stranded wire without pin ferrule, loose copper strands

Stranded wire inserted directly into spring terminal: fine copper strands spring back and form poor contact, failure occurs under vibration.

✅ Action: Crimp pin ferrules for stranded wires. Only ONE conductor per terminal hole. Do not route two wires into a single hole.

  1. Incorrect wire stripping length

Insufficient stripping: copper core fails to enter spring clamping zone. Over-stripping: exposed bare copper, risk of adjacent channel short circuit.

✅ Recommended stripping length: aproximativ. 8mm.

  1. Spring clip not fully locked

Conductor inserted without fully depressing the black release button; wire merely rests on spring clip without proper clamping.

✅ Correct operation: Hold down the top black button → insert wire → release button, lightly pull wire to confirm secure clamping.

  1. Fatigue / deformation of spring clip

After dozens of insert/remove cycles, spring tension degrades; clips may anneal after heating from short circuit.

✅ Inspection: Remove terminal block and test black button for crisp rebound. Replace terminal block immediately if rebound is weak.

  1. Poor seating between terminal block and TM5ACBM baseplate

Terminal latches not fully engaged to I/O module, poor contact on rear gold-plated fingers.

✅ Action: Remove and reinsert terminal block until audible “clic” of latches. Visually verify both side latches fully locked.

  1. No signal permanently, channel fixed ON/OFF (Hard Fault)

Symptoms

Point does not respond to external sensor or load command.

  1. Wrong terminal model (Very Common)

White TM5ACTB12 cannot replace grey TM5ACTB12PS. If white terminal is fitted on PDM power distribution module, power supply abnormal and all I/O fail. Invers, grey PS terminal on standard I/O module may cause hardware recognition error.

✅ Verification: White = standard I/O; Grey = PDM/IPDM power distribution module.

  1. Anti-mismatch coding conflict, terminal cannot fully insert into module

Coding slider on terminal bottom with conflicting code prevents full insertion, rear contacts cannot make connection.

✅ Troubleshooting: Match coding with baseplate setting, adjust coding tab on terminal. Never force insertion with coding mismatch, gold fingers may be damaged.

  1. Miswiring or missing common power connection

24V 0V common terminal for DI module not connected → all input points no signal; load supply missing for DO channels.

✅ Use multimeter via built-in probe test holes on terminal block. No wire disassembly required to verify if signal reaches terminal.

  1. Burned terminal from external short circuit

External line short circuit causes oxidation and blackening of internal copper contacts, permanent channel failure.

✅ Visual inspection for blackening or melting metal parts. Replace terminal block immediately if burned, do not continue operation.

  1. Alarm on power-up, module recognition failure (PLC reports missing module / hardware mismatch)

Often misdiagnosed as faulty PLC module, root cause is poor terminal seating

  1. Terminal not fully latched, poor contact on rear I/O module contacts leading to bus recognition failure

✅ Power off, remove and re-seat, confirm both latches locked.

  1. Coding setting conflict

Two modules on same baseplate island assigned identical coding, triggers hardware recognition fault.

✅ Assign unique coding for each I/O module.

  1. Praf / foreign matter contaminating gold fingers of terminal rear contacts

Heavy dust inside control cabinet causes oxidation of terminal metal pins.

✅ Power off and remove terminal block, wipe rear metal contacts with lint-free cloth.

  1. Supraîncălzire / Hot Terminal Block

Symptoms

Local temperature rise on terminal, plastic yellowing in severe cases

  1. High contact resistance caused by poor connection (Cele mai frecvente)
  2. Single channel current exceeds rated 10A
  3. Multiple conductors crammed into one terminal hole, overload current.

✅ Troubleshooting: Measure temperature on hot spot; inspect wire and clip. Long-term operation above 10A is forbidden.

  1. Spring button stuck / Wire cannot be pulled out
  2. Copper debris or foreign particles jam spring mechanism; clip deformed and locked.

✅ Do not pry forcibly; spring clip can easily break. Remove copper debris if minor jam; replace terminal block when stuck.

  1. Incorrect pressing angle: vertical push required for black button, angled force leads to jamming.

📋 Standard Troubleshooting Sequence (Recommended for Field Service)

  1. Opriți, inspecție vizuală: cracked plastic, burn marks, deformed spring clips
  2. Verificați cablajul: stripping length, ferrule crimping, one wire per hole
  3. Press release button and test spring rebound
  4. Confirm model: white TM5ACTB12 / grey TM5ACTB12PS, neinterschimbabile
  5. Verify anti-mismatch coding, confirm terminal fully inserted and latched to baseplate
  6. Porniți, measure signal via terminal probe holes with multimeter, isolate fault to field wiring or terminal/module
  7. Cross test by swapping suspect terminal onto known good module: quickly identify whether fault comes from terminal block or I/O module body

⚠️ Prohibited Practices

  1. Do not strike or pry spring button; spring clip may break easily
  2. Do not use stranded wire without ferrules; this is the top cause of field poor contact
  3. Do not mix white and grey terminal blocks; power distribution module terminals and standard I/O terminals are not interchangeable
  4. Terminal block is a consumable. Replace when spring fatigue occurs after repeated insertion, do not continue using worn parts

Suplimentar: Fault Isolation Logic

Multimeter shows normal signal at terminal test hole, but PLC channel no feedback: Fault likely in I/O module body or rear bus contacts

No voltage or signal fluctuation measured at terminal test hole: Fault located in field wiring or terminal connection
