✅ Standard Migration Procedure
- Back up ATV71 parameters via old SoMove; photograph all wiring, terminal assignments and communication card models
- Record PLC PZD telegram, every bit of control word, and fault acquisition logic
- Restore factory settings on the new Altivar Process drive and select the matching application macro (Pump/Fan / عزم الدوران)
- Enter motor nameplate data and run auto-tuning
- Re-map DI/AO and relay functions; do not copy ATV71 terminal function definitions directly
- Reconfigure Com Scanner communication table and rewrite PLC program (remap control & status words)

Frequent Pitfalls:
- Brake circuit: ATV71 has built-in brake transistor while ATV630/650 do not. Missing brake unit causes DC bus overvoltage (dCF) during deceleration.
- Overload capacity: ATV71 45kW HD current is higher; heavy-duty loads will trigger OL overload faults easily.
- Communication words: Many projects copy ATV71 PZD directly, leading to no drive response or wrong rotation direction.
- Digital input quantity: If DI7/DI8 were used on ATV71, an I/O expansion card is required since ATV630/650 only have 6 onboard DI channels.
