Yaskawa Servo absolute encoder feedback cable (with battery backup circuit)
Länge: 10M
✅ Erklärung des Modellcodes
JZSP: Prefix for Yaskawa servo Kabel Serie
CVP: Encoderkabel, standard PVC sheath for stationary installation (not high-flex for drag chain)
06: Dedicated for absolute encoder (with battery power circuit)
10: Kabellänge 10 Meter
E: Factory pre-terminated connectors at both ends
✅ Compatible Motors
SGM7G, SGM7A (Σ-7 series absolute encoder motors)
Incremental encoder motors use JZSP-CVP01 series, do not mix up.
✅ Construction & Spezifikationen
- Pre-terminated straight connectors on both ends: straight connector at motor side, straight connector at drive side
- Kabel: PVC outer jacket, shielded twisted pairs, for stationary wiring only, not suitable for reciprocating drag chain movement
- Funktion: Transmit encoder position signals + absolute value battery backup circuit (battery box powered from drive side)
- Drag chain alternative model: JZSP-CVP26-10-E (high flex, bending resistant for robots / moving axes)
✅ Matching Servo Drives
SGD7S / SGD7W Yaskawa Σ7 servo units
✅ Length Options for CVP06 Stationary Series
JZSP-CVP06-03-E: 3M
JZSP-CVP06-05-E: 5M
JZSP-CVP06-10-E: 10M (aktuelles Modell)

✅ Application & Notizen
Geeignet für: Werkzeugmaschinen, fixed wiring in automation equipment for Σ7 absolute servo feedback
Nicht geeignet für: Reciprocating drag chain, Robotergelenke; JZSP-CVP26 high-flex version must be used for these applications
Häufige Fehlerquellen: Oxidized connector pins, poor shield grounding, resulting in encoder communication fault or absolute position loss
Inländische kompatible Alternativen: Compatible finished cables available on market. Verify pin assignment and shielding process. Absolute encoder cable has extra battery circuit and cannot be directly replaced by incremental encoder cable.
✅ Quick Reference
CVP01: Σ7 incremental encoder cable
CVP06: Σ7 absolute encoder cable (stationary installation)
CVP26: Σ7 absolute encoder cable (high-flex for drag chain)
Yaskawa Σ7 Servo: Absolute Encoder Cable vs Incremental Encoder Cable (JZSP-CVP06 vs JZSP-CVP01)
Key conclusion: NICHT austauschbar! Absolute encoder cable has extra battery backup circuit (BATT+ / BATT-) to retain motor position during power loss; incremental cable does not have these two wires.
- Core Difference in Signals & Conductors
Inkremental-Encoder-Kabel (JZSP-CVP01)
Transmit differential pulse signals: A+,A-, B+,B-, Z+,Z- + encoder 5V power and GND
Funktion: Drive calculates motor position by counting pulses; position is lost after power off, homing required after power-up
Conductors: No battery backup circuit
Example model: JZSP-CVP01-10-E
Absolutwertgeberkabel (JZSP-CVP06, dieses Modell)
Transmit serial digital position signal (Yaskawa proprietary serial communication) + battery wires BATT+, BATT-
Funktion: Read absolute position via serial communication; battery box on drive side supplies power during power-off to retain encoder position, no homing required after power on
Conductors: Extra 2 wires for battery backup circuit to retain multi-turn absolute position when power is cut
Example model: JZSP-CVP06-10-E (stationary), JZSP-CVP26-10-E (drag chain high-flex)
Notiz: Connectors look identical, but internal pin assignment differs. Using incremental cable on absolute motor will trigger encoder fault and loss of multi-turn position.
- Kommunikationsunterschied
Incremental cable: Analog differential pulses (A/B/Z), transmits pulse count. Simpler, relatively lower requirement for anti-interference.
Absolute cable: Differential serial digital communication (Yaskawa Σ7 proprietary), transmits encoded position data. Higher requirement for shielding and grounding. Broken battery circuit leads to loss of position during power failure and A.81 battery alarm.

- Häufige Fallstricke
- Same appearance ≠ interchangeable: Identical connector shell but missing two battery wires inside. Forced use will cause position loss after power down and A.81 alarm.
- Absolute motor can be forced to run as incremental type (via drive parameter setting). Absolute cable is still recommended; multi-turn position cannot be retained if incremental cable is used.
- Erdungsanforderung: Absolute serial communication is sensitive to shield grounding. Poor or single-point shield grounding easily causes unstable encoder signal and intermittent alarms.
- Battery-less absolute encoder: New generation battery-free absolute motor does not require battery circuit in cable. This is a separate series, do not confuse with traditional battery-backed absolute encoder.
- Quick Selection Rule
Incremental motor → CVP01 (stationary) / CVP21 (drag chain)
Battery-backed absolute motor → CVP06 (stationary) / CVP26 (drag chain)
Yaskawa Σ7 A.810 (A.81), A.820 (A.82) Alarm Troubleshooting Checklist
Applicable to: SGD7S/SGD7W + SGM7G/SGM7A absolute motor, cable JZSP-CVP06 / CVP26
Sicherheitsvorkehrung: Warten 5 minutes after power OFF before plugging/unplugging encoder connector to prevent electrostatic damage to encoder chip
A.810|Encoder Backup Power Alarm
Bedeutung: Encoder fails to detect 5V encoder supply OR battery backup circuit abnormality. Cable defect is the most common cause.
Schritte zur Fehlerbehebung (von einfach bis komplex)
- Visual inspection of connectors
Drive side CN2 and motor side encoder plug: Bent pins, retracted pins, Oxidation, Ölverschmutzung, Wassereintritt. Check locking clip fully engaged.
Focus on BATT+ / BATTbattery circuit pins. These two pins do not exist on incremental cable; open circuit directly triggers A.81.
- Cable continuity test (Ausschalten)
Unplug both ends, use multimeter to measure: 5V, GND, BATT+, BATT-, differential signal wires (S+ S-)
Open circuit of 5V/GND: Main cable broken, usually caused by bending or tension in drag chain
Open circuit on either BATT+ / BATT-: Direct A.81 alarm; using incremental cable to replace absolute cable always triggers A.81
- Battery box inspection
Battery box on drive side: Battery voltage below 2.7V, reversed battery installation, poor contact of battery terminals
Broken short wire between battery box and CN2
- Interference & Verdrahtung
Encoder cable routed in same trunking or parallel closely with power cable; recommended separation ≥30cm
Shield only single-side grounded or ungrounded; shield of absolute serial cable must be crimped reliably to metal housing
- Cross verification (schnelle Fehlerortung)
Replace with confirmed good JZSP-CVP06 cable; alarm cleared = original cable damaged
Alarm persists after cable replacement: Motor encoder damaged or CN2 port on servo drive defective
A.820|Encoder Checksum Alarm
Bedeutung: Checksum error of serial data between encoder and drive. Signal transmission error, caused by interference, loose connector or encoder hardware failure.
Schritte zur Fehlerbehebung (von einfach bis komplex)
- Stecker & shield inspection (high-frequency cause)
Loose CN2 connector, poor pin contact; shield metal shell of connector not properly contacted
Damaged cable jacket, broken shield braid. Prioritize inspection at repeated bending positions for drag chain cables. (CVP06 stationary cable is NOT for drag chain use; shield twisted pairs prone to fatigue fracture)
- Cable measurement
Open circuit or short circuit of differential serial signal wires S+/S-, damaged twisted pairs
Short circuit between conductors or conductor to ground
- EMI interference check
Interference from power cable, Schütz, Wechselrichter, Magnetventil; separate routing of encoder and power cables
Dual-point grounding of shield recommended for Σ7 absolute cable to suppress high frequency noise
- Cross verification
Replace with known good absolute cable: Alarm cleared → original cable faulty
Alarm remains after cable replacement: Encoder on motor defective; rarely CN2 port damage on drive
- Reset operation
Power cycle. If A.82 occurs immediately after power up, mostly hardware failure. If alarm appears intermittently during operation, likely poor contact or EMI interference.
Related Alarm A.830 (Low Battery Voltage), often accompanied with A.81
Battery voltage <2.7V; aged battery or broken battery circuit. Multi-turn position lost after power off, encoder origin setting required after power up.
Quick Fault Diagnosis Tips
A.81 immediately after power on: Prioritize battery circuit, 5V power supply and cable continuity check
A.82 immediately after power on: Prioritize differential communication wires, shield and connector contact
Intermittent A.81/A.82 during operation: Likely poor contact caused by cable bending or EMI interference; replace with CVP26 high-flex cable for drag chain applications
Häufige Fehler
- ❌ Substitute incremental encoder cable (CVP01) for absolute CVP06: Missing BATT battery wires, A.81 alarm on power-up
- ❌ Install stationary CVP06 cable into reciprocating drag chain: Internal twisted pair fatigue fracture, intermittent A.82
- ❌ Shield grounded only at one end or shield braid clamped on plastic housing: Communication interference, random A.82
- ❌ Hot plug CN2 encoder connector: Easy permanent encoder chip damage, persistent A.81/A.82
Encoder Origin Reset (After Fault Repair)
After A.81/A.82 alarm cleared and battery circuit restored, multi-turn position data may be lost. Use SigmaWin+ software to perform Encoder Absolute Setting to write origin position.

Wichtige Hinweise
- CVP series is for SGM7G, SGM7A high power Σ7. Low power SGM7J uses CSP series, connectors are not compatible and cannot be interchanged.
- Suffix -E = finished cable with straight connectors at both ends. Bare cable without connectors available on market (without -E suffix).
- Max standard length is 20m. Signal attenuation occurs for longer length; encoder repeater module recommended.
- New battery-less absolute motor does not require battery wires in cable. These models are outside CVP06 family.
