AIRTAC DMSE-PNP (DMSE-P020) Installation
Direct-mount type: Fits E-shaped slot of SE / SAE cylinders; no extra bracket required, clip directly into the side E-groove of cylinder barrel.
Step-by-Step Installation Procedure
- Loosen set screw: Use small flat-blade screwdriver to turn the set screw on sensor head counter-clockwise (do not remove it completely).
- Slide into groove: Insert DMSE sensor from the end of the E-shaped side groove on SE/SAE cylinder barrel. Keep flat bottom surface of sensor tight against groove base.
⚠️ Only for SE, SAE cylinders with E-slot. Not applicable for SC/SDA or other slot-profile cylinders.
- Position adjustment: Manually move cylinder piston, slide magnetic sensor to desired detection position (signal triggers when piston magnet ring passes this position).
- Tighten and fix: Fasten the head set screw
Couple recommandé: 0.15-0.20 N·m, maximum ≤0.25 N·m. Excessive torque will crack plastic housing.
Important: Screw tip must NOT protrude from sensor bottom surface; otherwise it will jam and scratch cylinder groove.
- Verification test: Manually cycle cylinder piston to confirm reliable signal triggering. Re-adjust screw if position needs fine-tuning.
Installation for Cylinders without E-slot
If your cylinder is non-SE/SAE without E-shaped groove:
DMSE has no universal hoop bracket and cannot be fitted directly. Select magnetic sensors with corresponding profile (DMSG / DMSJ / DMSH) and use dedicated mounting brackets.

Key Installation Notes
- Cylinder must be equipped with built-in magnet ring, otherwise magnetic sensor cannot detect signal.
- Prevent cable from following cylinder reciprocating movement; reserve cable slack. Minimum bending radius ≥19 mm to avoid cable fatigue fracture.
- Keep away from strong magnetic fields (bobines de solénoïde, welding equipment etc.) to avoid false triggering.
- Do not use sensor as mechanical stop. Cylinder shall be equipped with built-in buffer; forbid piston impact onto sensor.
- Retighten screws periodically. Equipment vibration may cause position shift.
Dépannage rapide
Aucun signal de sortie: ① Verify cylinder has magnet ring; ② Check whether sensor aligns with piston magnet ring; ③ Over-torque causing housing deformation; ④ Reversed power-supply wiring.
Faux déclenchement: Strong surrounding magnetic interference; too-small spacing between two magnetic sensors.

When cylinder magnet ring is detected: Signal wire (noir) outputs high-level voltage nearly equal to supply DC24 V.
No magnet detected: Signal wire is high-impedance state (pas de sortie).

Load Connection Methods
- Connect to PLC sinking-type input: Black wire connects to PLC input channel; PLC common COM terminal connects to 24 V-. When magnet is detected, input channel receives 24 V and PLC turns ON.
- Connect to relay coil: One end of relay coil connects to black signal wire; the other end connects to 0 V. Relay energizes upon magnet detection.
Malentendus courants
- DMSE-Pxx: PNP sourcing output; DMSE-Nxx: NPN sinking output.
- This is electronic sensor, not dry-contact relay. It requires DC power supply; cannot be used as passive switch.
- Without piston magnet ring, no signal will be generated regardless of wiring.
Simple memory rule: PNP outputs high-level voltage; NPN pulls signal down to 0 V.

Material-Related Usage Precautions
- PBT housing shall avoid immersion in strong acid, strong alkali and strong solvents.
