Remarques sur le câblage

  1. Communication: Barcode data uses pins 9/10 RS232 process port. The 9-pin service configuration port resides on the MA wiring module and is not present on the 15-pin connector.
  2. Trigger Mode: Apply 24 V high level to SW-IN1 for one-shot trigger; 0 V stops scanning.
  3. Sorties: SW-OUT1 / 2 are PNP, output voltage equals supply VDD_IN, maximum. 700 mA. When connecting to PLC inputs, tie PLC common terminal to 0 V.
  4. MA2 / MA4 original modules are highly recommended. Home-brewed 15-Sub-D cables frequently cause communication instability and noise-related data loss.
  5. Always connect PE protective earth. Un-grounded units on conveyor systems suffer garbled data and false triggering.

Matching Cable Part-Numbers

KD BCL2: Standard cable with power, I/O and RS232 signals, typical lengths 3 m / 5 m; Order No. 50036410.

MA30 / MA31: MultiNet-Plus bus modules for RS485 multi-scanner networking.

Direct Replacement Comparison

BCL22S-M312: single-line laser scanner, 1000 scans/s, reading range 50-260 mm, barcode module 0.2-0.8 mm, RS232, 2-dans / 2-dehors, IP65, for high-speed conveyor-line 1D barcode acquisition.

Imported Upgrade Replacements (project-level drop-in compatible, configuration reuse)

  1. BCL348i SM 100

Optical range 50-280 mm, 1000 Hz scan rate; adds TCP-IP Ethernet while retaining RS232, 2-dans / 2-out I/O. Preferred upgrade for BCL22 series retrofits; Order No. 50124782.

Note: le motif des trous de montage diffère; custom adapter bracket required.

  1. BCL22-SM312: Exact original spare-part replacement, Order No. 50032097.

Domestic Alternative Scanners (for production-line retrofits)

Domestic ModelSpécifications clésRemarques
Newland NLS‑FS500‑1DSingle‑line laser, 50‑300 mm, 1000 scans/s; RS232, 2IN/2OUT; IP65Conveyor‑line 1D reading; output format can emulate Leuze protocol, rentable
Hikrobot MV‑ID2000‑LSingle‑line laser, large depth‑of‑field; RS232/Ethernet configurable I/OFor new projects requiring direct MES Ethernet upload

Note: Domestic alternatives have different mechanical mounting dimensions. Serial protocol frames require commissioning; true plug-and-play is not possible. For legacy production-line spare-parts, prefer the BCL348i SM100.

Practical Used-Unit Test Procedure for BCL22

  1. Power-on and listen to polygon motor: steady low hum is normal. Rattling, jitter or stationary scan line indicates motor failure; repair costs are high, avoid purchasing such units.
  2. Inspect laser window for scratches or haze; scratches cause partial-field decode failures.
  3. I/O test: apply 24 V trigger to IN1; OUT1 must assert 24 V upon successful decode. Absent output indicates burnt output transistor.
  4. RS232 loop-back test by shorting TXD/RXD. Verify no broken conductors or bent / oxidized pins inside the 15-pin connector.
  5. Barcode read test using 0.3-0.5 mm module barcode across full 50-260 mm working range. Frequent failures at nearor far-range indicate degraded optics.

BCL22S-M312 Scan Frequency

1000 scans per second (1000 scans/s)

M = high-speed variant: 1000 Hz

Sibling N-variant (BCL22S-N312): 800 scans/s

Supplémentaire: Polygon-mirror single-line laser delivers 1000 scan lines per second, suited for high-speed conveyor lines.

Optical version 312: reading range 50-260 mm, barcode module 0.2-0.8 mm.

BCL22S-M312 ↔ S7-200 SMART RS232 Wiring

⚠️ The native S7-200 SMART port is RS485 and cannot connect directly to RS232 scanner. SB CM01 signal board is mandatory, configured for RS232 mode, using Free-Port communication to receive barcode strings.

For BCL22 15-Sub-D male connector: MA2 / MA4 wiring modules are strongly recommended; avoid direct soldering to Sub-D plugs.

Hardware Cross-Wiring (3-wire RS232, no hardware handshaking)

BCL22 (15‑Pin Sub‑D) ÉpingleSignal DescriptionSB‑CM01 Terminal
Pin10 TXD‑PRO (Scanner Transmit)Barcode data output from scannerTerminal 4 RxA (PLC Receive)
Pin9 RXD‑PRO (Scanner Receive)Commands sent to scannerTerminal 1 TxB (PLC Transmit)
Pin7 GND_IN (Power Ground)RS232 signal reference groundTerminal 3 M (PLC logic ground)

Rule of thumb: Scanner TX connects to PLC RX; scanner RX connects to PLC TX; common ground is mandatory. Missing ground leads to garbled characters and dropped data.

Pouvoir & I/O Wiring (external-trigger mode, typical factory setup)

BCL22 power supply:

Pin6 VDD_IN: DC24 V positive

Pin7 GND_IN: 24 V return / 0 V

Pin8 PE: terre de protection, connect chassis to ground for noise suppression

External scan trigger:

SW-IN1 (Broche1): driven by PLC digital output; 24 V high-level triggers scan, 0 V stops.

SW-OUT1 (Broche3): PNP output asserts 24 V on successful decode; wired to PLC digital input.

SB-CM01 System-Block Configuration (Micro/WIN SMART)

  1. System Block → SB CM01, communication mode select: RS232
  2. BCL22 factory-default serial parameters:

Débit en bauds: 9600

Bits de données: 8, Bits d'arrêt: 1, Parité: None

  1. PLC Port 1 (SB-CM01) set to Free-Port mode; SMB130 = 1600 (9600, 8-N-1 Free-Port).

Register note: SB-CM01 maps to Port 1. Free-Port control byte SMB130. Receive buffer uses SMB134-SMB141. RCV instruction targets Port 1, do not use Port 0 (on-board RS485).

BCL22 Scanner Parameter Setup (Leuze-Config software)

  1. Output mode: trigger-based reading; transmit barcode string automatically upon successful decode, suffix CR(0D) or CR+LF(0D0A).
  2. Disable XON/XOFF software flow-control; disable RTS/CTS hardware handshaking.
  3. Trigger source: rising edge on external IN1 for single-shot scan.
  4. Output format: transmit barcode payload only, no extra protocol headers.

PLC Free-Port Receive Logic

Use RCV instruction; define carriage-return CR (160D) as message end delimiter.

Upon complete receipt of barcode string, copy buffer contents to VB memory area; re-arm RCV instruction for next acquisition.

Timeout-only termination is discouraged. BCL22 appends CR character to every output string; frame delimiter is far more reliable.

Field Troubleshooting

  1. Caractères tronqués: missing common ground; baud-rate / parity mismatch; cable shield grounding at both ends.
  2. No data received: TX/RX swapped; download RS232 system-block configuration and power-cycle PLC to activate SB-CM01.
  3. I/O trigger does not start scanning: IN1 needs valid 24 V high level; scanner internal parameter must enable external-trigger mode.
  4. Longueur du câble >15 m: RS232 is unsuitable for long distances. Use MA31 module for MultiNet-Plus RS485 bus extension.

Fall-back without SB-CM01

Native Port 0 is RS485. Fit an active RS232-RS485 converter. RS232 side connects to BCL22; converter RS485 side connects to PLC Port 0 terminals 3 & 8. Configure Port 0 for Free-Port. Pour les environnements industriels, SB-CM01 solution is preferred; converters incur higher noise-error risk
