Omron S82J-05024DD Switch Mode Power Supply

Discontinued model (Order acceptance terminated in March 2011). It is an older 50W industrial switch mode power supply of the S82J series, widely used for 24V power supply in control cabinets. Only second-hand or stock spare parts are available on the market.

5. Natural convection cooling. Maintain ≥25mm clearance top and bottom for ventilation; do not seal inside enclosed housing. Clean dust periodically in dusty environments.

7. Do NOT feed power directly from VFD output side. Fuse is recommended on input side.
8. After overcurrent / short-circuit protection triggers, remove the load, power off and wait approximately 90 seconds for auto-reset.

1. S8VK-C05024 (new Omron 50W 24V DIN rail PSU): 125 × 90 × 40 mm, 幅が狭い, different mounting cutout. Modification or adapter bracket required for direct replacement.
2. Meanwell LRS-50-24: 129 × 97 × 30 mm, smaller depth.

注記: S82J-05024DD is older thick form factor. During cabinet layout, reserve minimum 55mm front-rear space (46mm depth +7mm terminal protrusion), ≥25mm ventilation gap top and bottom.

Omron S82J-05024DD English Wiring Instructions

モデル: S82J series 50W 24V DIN rail SMPS, front terminal sequence (top to bottom): L, N, PE, +V, -V; V.ADJ trim potentiometer on side.

インジケータ: Green DC ON LED illuminates when power is normal with output; OFF when no output or under protection.

4. AC Input Side Wiring

L: Connect to AC220V live line

N: Connect to AC220V neutral line

FG earth terminal reliably bonded to cabinet PE protective earth

Wide input range AC85~264V, no voltage selector switch, globally applicable.

3. DC Output Side Wiring

+V → Load DC24V positive

-V → Load DC0V negative

Strictly prohibit shorting +V and -V; short circuit will trigger foldback overcurrent protection.

4. 端子の締め付け: Screw torque 0.5～0.8 N·m to avoid hot loose contacts.
5. Pre-power Check: Verify no short circuit on input/output, no polarity reversal. Power on under no-load condition, measure +V/-V voltage and confirm green LED lights up.

7. Recommended Cable Gauge

AC input cable: ≥0.75mm² stranded copper wire

DC output cable: ≥1.0mm² stranded copper wire; use larger gauge for long cable runs to reduce voltage drop.

4. Important Operational Precautions
5. 保護特性: Overcurrent and short-circuit protection are auto-reset type. Remove fault load, power off and wait approx.90 seconds for recovery. This 50W model has NO built-in overvoltage protection.
6. 禁止されている操作

Do NOT connect VFD output to L/N terminals of power supply

Reverse polarity on output terminals will damage the unit

Multiple S82J-05024DD units cannot be directly paralleled for power expansion (this low-power S82J does not support parallel operation)

3. 放熱: Natural convection cooling, maintain ≥25mm ventilation clearance top and bottom. Do not seal.
4. Earthing Requirement: FG terminal must be earthed. Unearthed unit carries electric shock hazard and higher EMI noise.
5. Potentiometer Adjustment: Do not turn V.ADJ to extreme limit in one step; adjust slowly while measuring voltage.
6. 故障診断

Green LED off after power-on: Check AC input, blown internal fuse or damaged power supply.

Green LED ON, voltage drops under load: 過負荷負荷, cable voltage drop or aged power supply with degraded capacitors.

Output cuts off immediately after power-on: Short circuit on output or leakage fault on load.
