ATV650 (Altivar Process ATV600 Series) Fault Code List
1. Supply & Input Side Faults
1. IPF / IPL Input phase loss / 3-phase unbalance
Cause: Missing input phase, blown fuse, severe 3-phase voltage unbalance, 3-phase detection enabled incorrectly for single-phase supply
Remedy: Check incoming circuit breaker / fuses; set IPL to nO to disable phase loss detection if running on single-phase supply

2. OVF DC bus overvoltage
Cause: Mains voltage too high, deceleration time too short, regenerative energy from high-inertia loads
Remedy: Increase deceleration time; fit braking resistor; activate adaptive deceleration brA

3. ObF Overvoltage stall (trip due to excessive DC bus voltage)
Cause: Fast deceleration, high load inertia, excessive regenerative energy
Remedy: Extend deceleration time; enable stall prevention; install braking unit + resistor

4. UVF DC bus undervoltage
Cause: Mains dip, momentary power loss, loose incoming connections, contactor chatter
Remedy: Check power supply; extend undervoltage delay; improve wiring connections

5. PHF Supply phase sequence error
Remedy: Swap any two incoming phases L1/L2/L3

2. Output & Motor Side Faults
1. OCF Output overcurrent
Cause: Motor locked rotor, shorted output cable, motor insulation breakdown, rapid acceleration/deceleration
Remedy: Disconnect motor and run no-load test; reduce acceleration/deceleration ramps; test cable insulation to earth with megger

2. SCF Output short-circuit / earth fault
Cause: Damaged motor cable shorted to earth, motor winding earth fault, failed drive IGBT
Remedy: Disconnect motor and test drive output separately; measure motor winding insulation to earth

3. OPF2 / OPF Output phase loss (motor phase loss)
Cause: Loose motor terminals, open output contactor, small motor running at light load
Remedy: Tighten motor wiring; disable OPL phase loss detection if an output contactor is used; disable phase loss protection for small motors

4. OLF Motor thermal overload
Cause: Continuous overloading, locked rotor, motor thermal current ITH parameter set too low
Remedy: Reduce load; adjust motor thermal current ITH; wait for motor to cool before reset

5. OLC Drive hardware current limit overload
Remedy: Reduce load; check output for short circuits; lower carrier frequency

6. OTF1 / OTF2 Motor PTC thermistor overheat
Cause: Motor winding overtemperature, broken or shorted PTC probe
Remedy: Check motor temperature; measure PTC resistance; disable this protection if no temperature probe is fitted

3. Drive Overheating Faults
1. OHF Drive heatsink overtemperature (common fault)
Cause: Failed cooling fan, clogged filter, insufficient mounting clearance, high ambient temperature, heavy dust accumulation
Remedy: Clean air filter; check cooling fan; set fan permanent ON mode; maintain vertical ventilation clearance; monitor heatsink temperature parameter THD

2. OHFd DC reactor overtemperature
Remedy: Reduce load; improve enclosure ventilation

4. Braking Circuit Faults
1. bUF Braking circuit fault
Cause: Open braking resistor, failed braking IGBT, loose wiring
Remedy: Check braking resistor resistance and connections; test braking unit at no load

2. bOF Braking resistor overload
Remedy: Select higher resistance braking resistor; extend deceleration time

5. Safety Circuit Faults (STO Safe Torque Off)
1. SAFF STO safety circuit fault
Cause: Mismatched timing between STOA and STOB (time difference >1 s), broken wiring, internal hardware fault
Remedy: Check both STO wiring paths; ensure STOA and STOB switch simultaneously; both paths must be shorted together for bypass

2. SdF Safety function active (normal stop, not a hardware fault)
Status: STO terminals open, drive locked; reset only after restoring STO wiring

6. Communication & Analog Signal Faults
1. CnF1~CnF4 Communication link fault (Modbus TCP / RS485)
Cause: Damaged Ethernet cable, incorrect termination resistor, IP address conflict, electrical noise interference
Remedy: Inspect cables; use shielded communication cable; verify IP settings; reduce baud rate

2. AIF Analog input wire break (4–20 mA current signal)
Cause: Broken sensor cable, open circuit, signal below 4 mA
Remedy: Check transmitter and signal wiring; lower wire-break threshold if required

3. AOF Analog output fault

7. Internal Hardware Faults (InF series, generally hardware damage)
1. InF8 Internal power supply fault (power board supply abnormal)
Remedy: Full power cycle; repeated fault = replace power board

2. InFL (InF21) Real-time clock fault, keypad communication failure
Remedy: Remove keypad, remove battery and re-power; replace keypad; if fault persists, replace control board

3. InF1~InF7, InF9~InF30 Other internal hardware errors
Remedy: Power cycle; fault cannot be cleared → control board / power board damaged, requires repair or replacement

8. Process-specific Faults (Pump / fluid functions exclusive to ATV650)
1. iPPF Low inlet pressure protection (dry-run / low suction protection)
Cause: Insufficient inlet pressure, faulty pressure transmitter, protection threshold set too high
Remedy: Check pipeline suction pressure; calibrate pressure transducer; reduce low-pressure threshold

2. HPF High pressure protection, LPF Low pressure protection, FLF Flow fault

3. DryF Dry-run protection (pump running without fluid)
Remedy: Verify pump suction availability; adjust dry-run current threshold

9. Other General Faults
1. FrF Frequency feedback fault (encoder wire break)
2. USF Motor autotune failed on power-up
3. CLF Cooling circuit fault (water-cooled versions only)
4. tJF Motor stall protection

10. Fault Reset Methods
1. Auto-reset: Enable automatic retry via parameter Atr
2. Manual reset: Assign DI terminal function rSF for remote reset; reset via keypad
3. Internal hardware faults (InF codes): Require full power cycle; some faults need board replacement
